Rev. Joan Antle

Rev. Joan Antle was born in Port-aux-Basques to James and Carrie Currie.  After finishing high school there, she went to St. John's and did a secretarial and bookkeeping course.  She worked for Canada Post in Botwood for 19 years and took an early retirement to begin studies for Ordained Ministry through a Tutorial course sponsored by Montreal Diocesan College.  Four years later, on April 17th, 1996, she was ordained a Deacon.  She was then ordained a Priest on October 8th, 1996 in the Parish of Bay L'Argent.
Since then, she has served in the Parish of Greenspond-Newtown-Pound Cove, Parish of Harbour Breton, Parish of Bay D'Espoir and the Parish of Buchans.  At present, she is the  Diocesan part-time Chaplain at the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor and enjoys this ministry very much.
Joan was married to Josh Shave for 43 years and has two sons and a daughter.  Josh died in 2003, and in 2006 she married Ron Antle of Botwood.  Ron's first wife died in 2003, and he has a son and a daughter;  between them, they have 8 grandchildren.  Ron and Joan will be married 5 years on November 4th, 2011, and they thank God every day that they have each other.    They are currently residing in Grand Falls-Windsor.
